With offices throughout California, Kevin Crockett, a distinguished personal injury attorney at Text Kevin Accident Attorneys, has established a name for himself as a relentless advocate for car accident victims.
For Kevin, going the extra mile isn’t just a mantra—it’s a foundational principle embedded in the fabric of his practice, evident not just in his direct client involvement but also in the comprehensive, meticulous attention he brings to every aspect of his work, distinguishing him in the field of personal injury law.
In an exclusive interview, Kevin shares his journey, insights, and why he never really takes a vacation.
Finding his calling
Kevin’s journey into the legal world was born out of a heartfelt desire to serve. “I wanted to become an attorney to help those who couldn’t help themselves,” he reflects.
Following his tenure at the University of California, Irvine, Kevin pursued his legal education at the University of California, Irvine School of Law. It was there he first realized that going the extra mile was the most effective way to achieve his goal of helping others.
I studied whenever I could. I would even bring textbooks to the gym and read while I was on the treadmill. While I’m sure it looked curious to the other people in the gym, going the extra mile helped me graduate first in my class.
Following law school, Kevin honed his skills as an attorney at one of the largest personal injury law firms in Southern California. During his time there, he helped over a thousand accident victims and recovered millions of dollars for his clients.
But Kevin wanted to do more. Driven by his commitment to go the extra mile, he started his own law firm. Doing so allowed him to work closely with each client, giving them the personalized attention and support they needed.
A memorable victory: Triumph against the odds
While still early in his career, Kevin took on a case involving a couple who had been in a car accident. Following the accident and their recovery, the couple parted ways. The girlfriend chose a seasoned attorney with over thirty years of experience, while the boyfriend opted to stay with Kevin, who was then a newcomer with just six months under his belt.
Despite the similarity in their injuries and treatment, Kevin managed to secure a settlement for his client that was double the amount the girlfriend received. This was an important moment for Kevin, as he realized that not only could he be an attorney, but he could be a good one.
Beyond the stereotypes
Kevin is well aware of the stereotypes plaguing the legal profession, many of which have been perpetuated by depictions of lawyers in television and film. Yet, Kevin’s experience has been a testament to integrity and ethical practice. While he acknowledges that the personal injury field is incredibly competitive, he hasn’t witnessed the dishonest, immoral, or unscrupulous behavior often associated with his profession.
Lawyers can make a difference in their clients’ lives. Because of that, we must be truthful, moral, and hospitable so that the difference we make is a positive one.
Choosing the right attorney
Litigation can take months or even years. It involves discussing sensitive matters, like your health and financial circumstances, and, ultimately, the success of the case could determine the course of your recovery. Accordingly, choosing the right attorney is incredibly important.
While Kevin believes it’s important to consider an attorney's reputation, the most critical factor may be the attorney’s area of expertise. Just as you wouldn't consult a cardiologist for a broken bone, it's essential to choose an attorney who specializes in the relevant field of law.
At Kevin’s law firm, the slogan is “Accidents. It’s all we do.”
As Kevin explains, each area of law demands specific knowledge, skills, and relationships.
I have always believed that it is better to be exceptional at one thing than be average at several. By focusing on accidents, we have become an exceptional law firm that helps people who have been unfairly hurt find fair compensation.
The man behind the suit
“When am I not working?” Kevin muses. He has to think for a moment because Kevin works long hours and rarely takes a vacation day.
Personal injury is a competitive field with a lot of other talented and driven attorneys whom I have the pleasure of calling friends and competitors. I have seen the drive that my colleagues have, and I have to work just as hard, if not harder, to continue to grow my business for the sake of my employees and clients.
On the rare occasions that Kevin manages to take a break, he cherishes spending time with his family in Irvine, California. He proudly notes that Irvine is frequently recognized as one of the best cities to raise a family and one of the happiest cities in America. He also enjoys traveling with his family. However, he admits that even when abroad, he ensures his clients have access to him.
It's just another aspect of going the extra mile.
