We recently had a chance to sit down with California personal injury attorney Gabriel Katz of MVP Accident Attorneys to talk about his proudest moment as an attorney, the advice he gives to all his clients, and what he thinks is the biggest misconception about personal injury attorneys.
Beginnings
Gabriel Katz knew he wanted to be a lawyer from an early age.
“I wanted to assist and be there for others through difficult moments.”
After graduating from the University of Arizona, where he was a criminal justice major, Gabriel attended law school at Chapman University School of Law in Orange, California.
During law school, Gabriel worked at the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.
Law school helped teach Gabriel how to be a competent attorney, but the most valuable advice he received was how to treat clients and others in the legal community.
“The best piece of advice I received in law school was to always show compassion and respect.”
Legal career
Gabriel passed the California State Bar in 2021 and began working for MVP Accident Attorneys. At MVP Accident Attorneys, Gabriel handles all sorts of personal injury claims, including car accidents and slip and falls.
Although he hasn’t been practicing long, Gabriel has already made a difference in the lives of others. His proudest case to date involved helping a client obtain a large settlement following a terrible accident. In addition to covering her medical expenses, some of the settlement money will be used to help the client fulfill her lifelong dream of opening her own salon.
Advice to current and prospective clients
Gabriel knows that the wheels of justice can turn slowly. But he also knows that hard, focused work can lead to a positive outcome.
“I advise my clients to have faith in the process. I say this because, at times, the outlook may seem bleak when taking into account the lengthy process of litigation. You have to trust the process and a positive outcome will eventually happen with time and attention to detail.”
One way a client can help things move along a little more quickly is by showing up to the initial consultation prepared. Gabriel recommends bringing all of the documents you have concerning your case so the attorney doesn’t have to spend the first few weeks “fishing for information.”
As for prospective clients, Gabriel recommends finding someone who displays attention to detail, is a transparent communicator, and genuinely cares about the challenges you’re facing.
