We at Enjuris are delighted to announce the winner of our 2024 “Future Lawyer” Scholarship.
This year, we challenged law students across the country to create a fun and innovative video answering the prompt:
The 30-second law school survival guide . . .
We were blown away by the creativity and dedication shown by all participants. Yet, one entry soared—and twisted—above the rest.
The winning submission: How ski jumping inspired confidence in law school
Winter Lee Vinecki drew from her experience as a world-class aerial skier and triathlete to show how the mental strength and courage needed for ski jumping also helped her tackle the challenges of law school.
Her submission resonated with our judges because it wasn’t just about surviving law school — it was about using past experiences to gain perspective and face new challenges with confidence. Winter's story is a powerful reminder that believing in yourself is often the key to overcoming obstacles.
The scholarship award
Our Enjuris editors are former law students who understand the high cost of law school. To assist with her law school expenses, Winter will receive a $1,000 award. We wish her success in her future endeavors and hope this contribution makes her law school journey a little bit easier.
About the winner
Winter Lee Vinecki grew up in Michigan and Oregon. She is an accomplished athlete, activist, author, and student. At just nine years old, Winter lost her father to an aggressive form of prostate cancer, which inspired her to establish TeamWinter.org, a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to raising money for prostate cancer research and awareness. To date, she has raised over $500,000 for the cause.
Winter began racing triathlons at age five and became the Ironkids National Champion in 2010 and 2011. She also set a world record by becoming the youngest person to run a marathon on all seven continents. Her athletic achievements continued with her career as an aerial skier, where she has represented the U.S. Ski Team since 2016 and won multiple gold medals at international competitions.
In addition to her athletic pursuits, Winter graduated magna cum laude from the University of Utah in 2021 with a major in Business Administration and a minor in Nutrition. She published her memoir, Winter's Rise, in 2022, and she continues to inspire others as a public speaker. Winter is now pursuing her J.D. at St. Mary’s University School of Law, where she applies the same dedication and perseverance that have defined her journey so far.
